San Miguel de Allende just got an ice skating rink—beginning December 10th. That’s right yesterday, one of the largest tourist hot spots in Mexico just got another reason to visit.
ICE SKATING RINK IN SAN MIGUEL DE ALLENDE:
San Mike’s first ice skating rink opened up in Old Garibaldi Square. This 20 x 20m ice skating rink is aimed at rejuvenating the holiday atmosphere in public squares throughout the idyllic pueblo of San Miguel de Allende. Open from 9am until 10pm, this ice skating rink in San Miguel de Allende will be rocking from Monday through Sunday, so put on your skates and get ready to have a blast!
At 6:30 in the afternoon yesterday, the mayor of Luis Alberto Villarreal Garcia inaugurated the ice skating rink for just under an hour for families residing in San Miguel de Allende. Throughout the winter season, a maximum of 200 people are able to skate their hearts out for 30 minutes—as long as they wear a safety helmet. Brand new skates have been purchased as rentals for the ice skating rink in San Miguel de Allende.
In addition, this ice skating rink in San Miguel de Allende boasts full racks, benches, tables in a carpeted seating area, and an anti-skid floor where people can leave their equipment for the next lucky skaters as they exit off the track.
A 14-person staff operate the ice skating rink in San Miguel de Allende: 4 technical and maintenance staff, some service personnel, and even an emergency doctor to attend to any bruised knees for those rookie skaters—as well as public security along the perimeter of the track, and private security on the rink itself.
Tours will be provided for schools in the surrounding areas—both in urban and rural towns—so that everyone can enjoy this unique experience. Transportation will even be provided in some cases so that children in outlying areas can bask in the joy of this wonderful holiday tradition.
So come on down to Old Garibaldi Square while the festivities are on, and take advantage of the ice skating rink in San Miguel de Allende while you can!
